Life finally resembles some normality as NewcastleGateshead steps into the next phase of reopening following the 2021 lockdown. From 12 April, the region, alongside the wider UK, will be able to dine outside with up to six friends or with your household. Not only that, but get ready to sip your first cold beer in a pub garden or catch up with friends over a coffee on a restaurant terrace.
Many of your favourite restaurants, pubs and cafes have worked hard to adapt so that they can reopen their outdoor areas ready to welcome you and your friends and family back. There will be a few changes and precautions in place so expect to pre-book your table at beer gardens and alfresco dining at restaurants. There will be table service only, so sit back and wait to be served! Masks will be required if you are moving around to use the toilet, for example. On the whole, payment will be via contactless methods and many hospitality venues have a natty app so you can order from your table. Discover which beer gardens are taking bookings here.
Restaurants and pubs have worked tirelessly to create superb 'at home' takeaway menus and click and collect services - which will still be available at many venues.
