Whether you want to sing-a-long to some of the biggest musicals currently touring the UK or you are in the mood for a new production from local talent – there is a show to suit.
Sunderland Empire has a stellar line-up of showstoppers coming up, including War Horse, Hairspray, and Hamilton while Theatre Royal Newcastle have hosted West End productions including Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Six and Funny Girls.
Theatre Royal Newcastle once again welcome powerful performances from Royal Shakespeare Company, while Tyne Theatre and Opera House have a diverse programme of theatre including opera, family-shows and talks.
For something a little different in the heart of the city visit Northern Stage, who have a fresh, varied and thought-provoking season of shows for children and adults alike. Or perhaps take a trip to the Live Theatre on Newcastle Quayside, where their strong regional identity is represented on the stage with a regular programme of original material. Watch out for one-off theatre from independent creative companies like November Club who produce exciting and immersive family-friendly theatre which often pops up in unusual places.
Make a trip to the theatre part of your night out in NewcastleGateshead. Many restaurants including Dabbawal, Pleased to Meet You, McKenna’s at Northern Stage and Pizza Punks offer a tasty pre-theatre menu to get you ready for the show.
During the warmer months and long, light evenings of summer, enjoy the sophistication of outdoor theatre in the atmospheric surrounding of Jesmond Dene and Gibside National Trust.
