Tyne Theatre and Opera House are fast becoming the theatre of choice for comedians, stand-up and comedy acts in Newcastle. The Victorian theatre in the centre of Newcastle continues to welcome big stars all year round with top billings going to the likes of James Acaster, Celeste Barbar, Iain Stirling and John Bishop.
Utilita Arena in Newcastle and the O2 City Hall Newcastle both attract a host of big comedy nights in Newcastle, stand-ups and touring shows with everyone from Jason Manford to Jimmy Carr making the line-up.
If you're looking for a more intimate night of comedy in Newcastle, then head to The Stand Comedy Club with comedy gigs performed nearly every night of the week. You will be treated to raw and side-splitting comedy in close quarters where only the brave sit on the front row.
And for something more involved, visit The Cumberland Arms, regular host of The Suggestibles, an improv-comedy troupe who take your suggestions to inspire the show. Grass roots improv is booming in Newcastle too with gigs cropping up at pubs and bars around the city.
