During summer, NE1’s Summer in the City’s action-packed calendar of free events take centre stage from July – September. From daily open-aired cinema screenings to yoga classes overlooking the picturesque Quayside, there’s a free event for everyone.

Fill your calendar during the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ with free events guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit, including Fenwick’s Christmas window reveal or bring in the New Year with the spectacular (and free!) Lasers of Light, illuminating the Quayside.

Many of NewcastleGateshead’s incredible museums and attractions offer free events and exhibitions, allowing you to immerse yourself in history, culture and art without spending a penny.

Visit The Great North Museum to be greeted by a full-size T-Rex skeleton and enjoy a variety of free events throughout the year. Looking for free events for the family? BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, The Common Room and many other attractions provide free events for children during school holidays. Taking place annually, Heritage Open Open Days are a celebration of England's architecture and culture that provide free access to some of NewcastleGateshead’s historical landmarks through a weekend long events programme.
