Life finally resembles some normality as NewcastleGateshead steps into the next phase of reopening following the 2021 lockdown.

Visitors can now dine inside at restaurants or visit a bar with friends indoors if they wish. The table sizes are limited to groups of 6 people or diners from 2 households.

Many of our favourite restaurants, pubs and cafes have worked hard to adapt so that they can welcome you and your friends and family back. There will be a few changes and precautions in place so expect to pre-book your table inside. You may have already battled the elements to catch up in beer gardens or alfresco dining at restaurants - this will continue throughout the summer too. There will be table service only, so sit back and wait to be served! Masks will be required if you are moving around to use the toilet, for example. On the whole, payment will be via contactless methods and many hospitality venues like bars and pubs with outdoor dining have a natty app so you can order from your table. Discover which beer gardens are taking bookings here

We are working hard to keep our food and drink listings updated but if you find a restaurant, pub or cafe you like the look of on our website, make sure to check the business' website directly to double check details.
