Tynemouth Longsands is one of the many beautiful North East beaches. It attracts people from across the region with its stunning golden sands that stretch for a mile, as well as rocks, dunes and cliffs. The Blue Flag award-winning beach is popular all-year round, offering great walks, views, and a sure-fire way to blow away those cobwebs. When the sun is out in the summer, it is a perfect place to soak up the sun, play beach games, and splash about in the sea.
Longsands has developed a national reputation as surf destination and has staged national championships. It is a great place to learn to surf with lessons and board hire available. The beach has even been used for Premier League football training by Newcastle United, and has featured in the Hollywood movie "Goal". It is one of the most painted and photographed beaches in the country and the view looking north is breath-taking.
In the summer beach lifeguards operate and there are seasonal restrictions on dogs.
10 minute walk from Cullercoats Metro station (north) and Tynemouth Metro station (south).
