Longsands Surf School

Longsands Surf School is the best way to experience the North East coastline! Get active and have a go at surfing with the Tynemouth-based surf school.

Whether you're a total beginner or have tried surfing many times before - experience the thrill of riding the waves at one of the independent company's surfing lessons which are suitable for ages 6 to 60! Pick up the basics or build up your confidence with lessons from Longsands Surf School so that you can hire surf gear and eventually buy your own surfboard and surf the world!

Surf lessons run everyday and their Kids Surf Club runs every Saturday and Sunday at 10am. Age from 6 to 18.

Longsands Surf School surf instructors are RLSS qualified beach lifeguards and I.S.A. (International surfing association) or 'SurfingGB' surfing coaches.

All equipment is supplied however you will need to bring a towel and some warm clothing.

For anyone who may feel a little nervous about having a go, rest assured that the lessons are enjoyable and relaxed, led by encouraging and friendly staff.

Surf lessons in Tynemouth near Newcastle upon Tyne consist of the following:

• Introduction
• Equipment issue and getting into your wetsuit
• Beach and water safety
• Description of board and leash
• Beach demonstration of surfing and correct entry into the sea
• Warm up followed by entry into the sea
• Catching a wave and correct prone position on board (lying down)
• Water confidence building
• Correction and praise

Learn the basics and experience on land and in the sea as you begin to catch waves and start stand up surfing!

Private and group lessons start from £30 per person.
