On the opposite banks of the River Tyne, Gateshead is gearing up to celebrate Pride in grand style. Building on the huge success of last year’s event, the town’s month-long festival returns, running throughout August 2025.
Organised by local charity Out North East, they will be hosting a variety of exciting events throughout the month and providing safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to celebrate.
Whether you’re visiting for a day, a weekend or the entire month, here’s an overview of what to expect from some of the key events:
Pride in Gateshead, alongside festival sponsor Gateshead College will officially kick-off the month-long festivities at the Metrocentre on Saturday August 2nd from 10am-4pm.
Last year's launch event was a huge success, and this year promises to be even bigger with kids craft sessions, market stalls, fashion giveaways and even special appearances from none other than the Metrognomes! Hop on and off the Lumo Metro Train which will be giving free rides around the centre.
The film festival will spotlight some of the most powerful and thought-provoking films, exploring key issues within the LGBTQIA+ community. All films will be shown at Pride Media Centre, Gateshead.
Family is at the heart of Pride, and Pride in Gateshead is no exception with plenty of events and fun for families of all ages.
