Northern Stage reaches beyond the ordinary.
Northern Stage in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne is a registered charity. It is a theatre where ideas meet, and futures change - where we reach beyond the ordinary every time.
Northern Stage is a theatre and performance venue in the heart of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne but also has a community stretching from Tweed to Tyne and Tees in the shape of a partnership of artists, writers, makers, digital creators and businesses who exist for more than profit.
Every year thousands come to create and share unique live experiences at Northern Stage. Our home in Newcastle is an inspirational and creative place (with a mean cafe/bar) which belongs to you. Everyone is welcome.
Whether you're in the audience in one of Northern Stage's 700 seats, exploring skills and ideas in a workshop, or working with their industry-leading facilities and expertise to give voice to an untold story, you'll soon discover Northern Stage is Newcastle is so much more than a night out.
Visit for a coffee and a catch up during the week or grab a snack and a drink before a show on performance days at their Cafe-Bar. The in-house Cafe-Bar supports a number of popular local suppliers and is open daily for snacks, sandwiches and cakes from Pink Lane Bakery, ice cream from Doddington's Dairy, coffees from Ouseburn Coffee Company and tea from FigWigs Tea. There are also a range of cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including some excellent craft beer from neighbours Wylam Brewery.
Opening times can vary for the Cafe-Bar at Northern Stage but are usually 10am - 4pm on non-performance days, and on performance days it's open until after the interval.
