Roman Vindolanda is regarded as the most exciting archaeological site in Europe with its wealth of archaeological remains and ongoing excavations. Fans of Roman history must visit Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum - which are central to the Hadrian's Wall experience. Discover what life was like when Hadrian and his army lived in the North East and explore the Roman heritage site surrounded by rugged Northumberland countryside. Both the museums are a great day out for history fans and heritage seekers as well as a family-friendly day out in the countryside.
The Vindolanda Trust is an independent archaeological charitable trust, founded in 1970 which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2020.
July: open Friday - Monday only, 10am-5pm
Additional days will be added in August. All tickets must be pre-booked online.
