In 2019, the NewcastleGateshead Toon Tour bus was launched offering visitors the chance to take a tour of Newcastle and Gateshead on the new city tour bus thanks to local bus company Go North East. Visitors could hop on and hop off as they explored Newcastle's attractions and take in the city's sights atop the latest sightseeing bus experience.

The Toon Tour ran every weekend and daily during school summer holidays (from Saturday 20 July 2019). Visitors could choose from 18 stops to get on or off the Toon Tour bus on your visit to Newcastle and Gateshead. The Newcastle tour bus route included stops in popular Ouseburn and along the Quayside as well as taking visitors to Sage Gateshead, across the Swing Bridge and alongside the home of Newcastle United Football Club - St James' Park.

The Toon Tour service will run every 30 minutes from 10.05am until 4.05pm, with buses starting from Central Station in Newcastle and then serving 17 stops on a circular route. Take advantage of great deals from attractions and venues along the bus route including free child admission at Life Science Centre with a paying adult when you show your Toon Tour ticket.
