The Paris of Renoir and the Moulin Rouge is brought to life in Jalou which offers diners and partygoers a menu of brasserie-style food and drinks, which takes its inspiration from the nightlife of 19th century Paris.
The venue, next to Newcastle Central Station, has been lavishly decorated in the French style made popular by artists such as Renoir and Toulouse Lautrec and offers customers a range of traditional French dishes along with an extensive variety of cocktails and wines.
Jalous team of chefs has combined locally-sourced ingredients with traditional French classics to create a menu of light meals, sharing dishes and main meals, such as Moules Frites mussels in a white wine, cream and garlic sauce with French fries and steak baguettes in a mustard mayonnaise which are served daily from 12 noon to 7pm.
The venue has also introduced a Prescription List or drinks menu which boasts around 32 cocktails from classic Mojitos to fruit-based drinks infused with herbs and botanical extracts, such as Fields of Heather, which is made from heather tips, vodka, white peaches, raspberries, lavender, Limoncello and lime.
A range of Champagnes are also available, including Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut and Louis Roederer Cristal while the exclusively French wine list comprises a selection of reds, whites and roses.
Jalou is open from noon to 7pm for French bistro-style dining and from 7pm for drinks and cocktails.
