The North East is a thriving cultural region with an abundance of theatres to choose from all hosting a glitzy programme of shows throughout the year. Sunderland Empire has a stellar line-up of showstoppers coming up, including War Horse, Hairspray, and Hamilton while Theatre Royal Newcastle have hosted West End productions including Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Six and Funny Girls.

Theatre Royal Newcastle once again welcome powerful performances from Royal Shakespeare Company, while Tyne Theatre and Opera House have a diverse programme of theatre including opera, family-shows and talks.

Visitors looking for parking near the theatres in Newcastle can benefit from the city’s Alive After Five scheme which means parking is free in certain Newcastle car parks after 5pm every day. Both Monument and Haymarket Metro stations are in easy walking distance of the theatres and Sunderland Empire can also be easily accessed on the metro.
