The Hoppings Fair: Europe's Largest Travelling Funfair
Europe's largest travelling fair, The Hoppings, is set to delight families once again as it makes its grand return to Newcastle's Town Moor. Celebrating its 142nd appearance, this much-anticipated event will span ten days, starting Friday, June 21, until Sunday, June 30. Gather your loved ones for a summer filled with fun and excitement in Newcastle.
The Hoppings is billed as Europe's biggest and best travelling funfair with 300 rides and attractions and has become a regular feature on the North East's summer entertainment calendar since it first began in 1882.
A regular favourite with families and visitors across the North East, and with nearly 140 years of history in Newcastle, The Hoppings is a brilliant day out filled with thrills and spills on Newcastle's Town Moor. After the challenges of recent years, the fair is back in full swing for 2024, promising a fantastic experience for everyone.
This year, thrill-seekers can look forward to exciting new additions like a spectacular 60-meter big wheel, the largest in Europe, and XXL, a brand new white-knuckle ride featuring a G-force pendulum that swings up to a height of 47 meters. Popular favourites such as AIR, Extreme, Waltzers, and Wild Mouse will also make a return to ensure an adrenaline-packed visit. For the younger ones, there are plenty of rides including helter-skelters and cup and saucer rides, along with classic fairground rides for all thrill-seekers.
Opening Times:
The event will feature various side shows and food and drink stalls, providing something for everyone. Several toilet blocks and baby changing facilities will be available on site. On-site ATMs will be accessible for cash withdrawals, and most rides will accept card and contactless payments.
