Newcastle Mela is an incredible two day event that takes place every year during the August Bank Holiday weekend in Exhibition Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. It’s free, family friendly and everyone is welcome.
With up to 40,000 visitors from across the region, Newcastle Mela has been taking place for over 25 years and is one of the most vibrant and popular multi-cultural events in the North East.
The event is based around Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures and this is your chance to experience the music, food and entertainment associated with these cultures.
Over two days you will be entertained by singers and musicians; enjoy a delicious range of hot and cold foods from our many stall holders; buy clothes, gifts and jewellery; try out art, crafts and activities; and see some incredible performances by circus acts, dance artists and local groups.
The event is suitable for everybody, no matter what your age or background, there really is something for everyone. Visitors come from far and wide and once you visit and experience the incredible atmosphere, you will definitely want to come again!
