Three people laughing together
A fun crafting session for all. Our friendly staff will be on hand to support, and a variety of materials will be available. The first and last session of the summer will include the opportunity to display your artwork in the gallery - see session details below.

Choose between 10.30am - 11.45am and 1pm - 2.15pm.

Tuesday 21 July: 3D Buildings - Make a miniature house or building, using paper and card. Take it home on the day, or add it to the display in the gallery. Bring family and friends back to see your artwork on display until Saturday 1 August (2pm). Please collect your artwork 2pm - 5pm on Saturday 1 August (if this date is difficult due to holidays, contactHannah.Mackay-Jackson@northeastmuseums.org.uk).

Tuesday 28 July: Abstract Necklace or Decoration:Create an abstract or patterned drawing, inspired by the artworks. Cut your drawing up into various shapes, and thread these to create a necklace or hanging decoration. You can wear your artwork or display it at home.

Tuesday 4 Aug: Moving Cardboard Puppets:Use cardboard, paper and split pins to create a moving puppet. Your puppet will be a 2D, handheld person with moving limbs.

Tuesday 11 Aug: Optical Illusion Drawing:Relax with simple paper and pens, and create optical illusion patterned drawings.

Tuesday 18 Aug: Patterned Pinch Pots:Make a simple pot from air-drying clay, by pinching with your fingers. Be inspired by patterns in the gallery, to engrave a design. Take your pot home to dry (24 - 72 hours) then it'll be ready to paint. You can paint it at home, or book a free painting session at the Shipley, where we'll provide everything you need.

Tuesday 25 Aug: Artstraw Sculptures:Use cardboard straws to create 3D sculptures and wearables. Take your artwork home on the day, or add it to the display in the gallery. Bring family and friends back to see your artwork on display until Saturday 5 September (2pm). Please collect your artwork 2pm - 5pm on Saturday 5 September (if this date is difficult due to holidays, contact Hannah.Mackay-Jackson@northeastmuseums.org.uk).
