NOVUM Newcastle Summer Festival returns Friday 7th - Sunday 9th August 2026 for a three-day takeover of Newcastle’s city centre, transforming streets, squares and unexpected corners into a playground of performance, creativity and community celebration.
Expect a packed, family-friendly programme of free events, including outdoor performances, playful installations, artist workshops, music and plenty of pop-up “you just had to be there” moments. From a monumental artwork weaving through the city to colourful creative takeovers of public spaces, Novum 2026 invites you to enjoy a weekend of culture, entertainment and play right in the heart of Newcastle.
NOVUM brings all kinds of art into the city centre, from street performances, live music and large-scale spectacles to workshops, digital experiences and surprises to stumble across as you go.
With daytime and evening events throughout the festival, it’s easy to pop in for a quick look or spend hours exploring. Expect free, drop-in and stumble-upon moments alongside bookable events and a scheduled programme.

When is NOVUM Festival happening?
NOVUM will run between Friday 7th August until Sunday 9th August 2026. Most events take place during the day, with a selection of evening performances across the weekend.

Is the festival free?
Most of NOVUM is free to enjoy! A small number of events are ticketed due to capacity – these will be clearly marked in the festival programme.
