The measures we have put in place:

  • Enhanced hygiene and additional cleaning throughout hotel and restaurant with particular attention to key touch points.
  • Online check in and contactless key collection.
  • In-room dining and beverage options for the hotel.
  • Hand sanitiser stations available in hotel and restaurant.
  • Contactless payment encouraged wherever possible.
  • All menus in the restaurant will be available in disposable form or online (traditional menus have been removed).
  • Socially distant dining tables in the restaurant.
  • Individual condiments in the restaurant.

How you can help when visiting us:

  • Respect social distancing in all areas.
  • Pre-booking is essential for both hotel and restaurant.
  • Prior to arrival all guests of the hotel and restaurant will be asked to confirm if they or any of their party have shown symptoms. Unfortunately, those currently with symptoms, or self-isolating will be asked to visit at a future date.

South Causey Inn will re-open from Thursday, 15th April 2021.

Our schedule for reopening -

Monday, April 12th, 2021

  • A selection of our hot tub suites and bedrooms will be available to book for a night's stay.
  • A 'takeaway style' full English or vegetarian breakfast will be delivered to your room in the morning with a delicious continental breakfast, juice and tea, and coffee.
  • Picnic Dinner Baskets can be ordered to self-contained hot tub bedrooms or you may decide to wine and dine in a private dining pod.

Thursday, 15th April 2021

  • Our outdoor gardens and Hotspot Fire Engine Bar will be open for food and drinks on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Saturday, 17th April 2021

South Causey Inn Dog Walk - On arrival, our chief dog walker will meet you at our car park and show you to the entrance of the Inn and we will aim to set off at 9 am. Remember to keep your pooch on a lead, and enjoy the stunning scenic views through the Beamish woodlands and countryside.

The group will meet back at the Hotspot Fire Engine Bar at 10 am, where breakfast which is included in the dog walk ticket £15 will be served to you at your table, which is available until 11.30 am.

All bedrooms and hot-tub suites at the Inn will be available to book and indoor bar and restaurant will be open and available to book for food and drinks

  • Morning coffees from 9 am
  • Breakfast for non-residents is available Monday to Sunday from 9 am until 11.00 am
  • Restaurant open for lunch and dinner from 12 pm until 9 pm Monday to Saturday
  • Restaurant open for lunch and dinner from 12 pm until 8.30 pm on Sunday

Afternoon Tea serving times

  • Monday to Sunday in the private dining pods - 12 pm and 12.30 pm
  • Monday to Saturday in the main restaurant - 11.45 am, 12.15 pm, 3.45 pm & 4.15 pm

The South Causey Inn Market is back! Every Tuesday from 10.30 am until 2 pm. Come along and browse the brilliant local stallholders who will be situated in the private pods and shop everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, crafts, clothing, arts, and more.

Nestled in 100 acres of the beautiful Beamish Valley countryside, South Causey Inn offers the most idyllic environment for casual dining, relaxing country getaways, weddings, and corporate events, and more. Whether you're looking to get away with the family, host an exclusive party for an upcoming celebration, or inspire your employees with a team-building event, we have everything you need to make your stay perfect.

South Causey Inn's private Dining Pods are the ultimate al fresco dining! You can settle in with your loved ones and wine and dine under the stars in your beautifully decorated, fully heated, private space. Your table will be dressed in white linen, with candles and festoon lights hanging from the ceiling and you will be able to order food and drinks which will be served to you by your personal server.

It is easy to visit South Causey Inn with excellent local transport links from Newcastle airport, Durham, Chester-le-Street, and Newcastle train stations, bus stops outside the door, and 24-hour taxi services! There are 60 bedrooms at the Inn, including hot-tub suites, two-storey pamper houses, and plenty of dog-friendly rooms too. The Inn is situated just 10 minutes from the world-famous Beamish Museum and Tanfield Railway, meaning a perfect trip out for the kids, before heading back to the Inn for a delicious pub lunch and then a well-deserved dip in the hot tub.

You will have the option of enjoying an out-of-the-ordinary drinking experience at the quirky Hotspot Bar, which is an original 1960s fire engine converted into a state-of-the-art Bar! The Hotspot Bar is COVID secure and is fitted with an indoor and outdoor heated seating area, private bar, a music sound system, fur throws, and hot water bottles, so you’ll be toasty warm. Beers, wines, cocktails, hot drinks, and snacks can all be enjoyed at the Hotspot Bar.
