Any visitor to NewcastleGateshead who surveys the city skyline can be left in little doubt as to one of the overriding passions of the region. St James' Park is home to Newcastle United Football Club and the magnificent football ground towers over the city. Most big football clubs have their stadium situated on the outskirts of town, but Newcastle United hallowed ground can be found where most other cities have their cathedrals, in the centre, which perhaps says something about the place football has in the hearts of their passionate and loyal following - the 'Toon Army'.

The fans flock to the ground whenever the team play at home and are recognised to be some of the most knowledgeable and vociferous supporters in the country. Consequently, they create an atmosphere that is second to none. St James' Park holds 52,000, making it the one of the biggest football stadiums in England, and getting tickets for games, while sometimes difficult, is not always impossible.

For a closer look at this magnificent ground, why not book a guided Stadium Tour? Go behind the scenes or take to the rooftop of the stadium for a better view with one of these guided tours for football fans. St James' Park is also widely used for various functions, from weddings to business meetings, and there's also a restaurant, Official Newcastle United Club superstore and two bars - NINE Sports Bar & Lounge and The Terrace Bar. Newcastle United recently introduced The Barracks, the new contemporary hospitality and event space at St. James Park. Fans can enhance and extend their matchday experience with premium Milburn Stand seating, a deli style menu, pre- and post-match live entertainment and specialist pop up bars.

Not just a home for football, St James' Park has hosted major international rugby tournaments both in League and Union such as Magic Weekend and Rugby World Cup Final matches respectively. Fans of live music have also enjoyed concerts at the open-air venue from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Bryan Adams.
