Summer seasonal events

Summer is a wonderful time to visit NewcastleGateshead...

...with a whole host of events to take part in and enjoy whether you're relaxing on a staycation or experiencing NewcastleGateshead for the first time. Must-visit attractions ramp up their summer programme for families looking for a day out in NewcastleGateshead too.

Summer will be kicked off by the 'Geordie Bank Holiday' when Sam Fender plays two sold out shows at St James' Park. The city is set to be buzzing over the weekend of the 9th of June and the sun will hopefully shine down on the occasion.

Summer is festival season with firm favourite Mouth of the Tyne Festival starting the season in style.  Experience the thrill of theatre with outdoor performances against the backdrop of stunning parks and gardens around the region or sample a wealth of flavours at food festivals and culture events.

UK Pride is a big feature on the summer event's calendar adding colour to the streets of Newcastle in July each year.

Get outdoors and explore attractions, parks and gardens that reopen especially for the spring - summer season including Alnwick Castle in Northumberland where Potter fans can perfect their broomstick flying skills. Or explore the North Tyneside coastline with Shore Yoga, a family run local yoga studio in Monkseaton.

Wander the city centre and along the iconic Quayside during the summer months and see the city come alive. Pull up a deckchair and experience free, outdoor cinema at NE1 Screen on the Green or head down to the Quayside to explore the art installations and hunt out a guided tour to discover Newcastle like never before.
