Like us, you might have forgotten what it's like to go for a date in a bar or have a romantic meal out for Valentine's Day at a bustling restaurant. It feels like a very long time since you could hug your friends or have a cheeky flirt with the person next to you at a gig, but all is not lost. There will be love in NewcastleGateshead this February - whether that is by celebrating Valentine's Day with your partner from your 'at home restaurant' or spreading a little love to the friends you are missing.
Read on to find our top tips on five ways to mark Valentine's Day in NewcastleGateshead during lockdown.
Whether you decide to get your gladrags on or stay in your joggers and slippers, a takeaway for two from one of NewcastleGatehead's finest restaurants is bound to add a little special something to another night in on Valentine's Day. Choose from gourmet takeaway meals for two from Dobson & Parnell at Home or Six at BALTIC.
South Causey Inn are going all out with their exclusive Celebration Boxes, takeaway three-course meals. Alternatively, go wild with South Causey Inn's epic Wine, Dine and Cocktail Box for two, complete with three-courses, wine, pre-prepared cocktail AND the ultimate gift for a refined 'meal out' at home - napkins, candles and even toothpicks!
All that's left for you to do is provide the ambient, background music - it might not be a meal out at a restaurant but at least there will be limited washing up afterwards!

Is there anything more romantic than a spot of star gazing? The Northumberland Dark Skies Festival 2021 takes place in February with a series of interesting online talks and workshops. Deep Sky Astrophotography for Beginners is an online masterclass to inspire anyone with an interest in photographing dark skies. Sign up to find out how you can begin your stargazing journey. The event will take place online on Saturday 13 February, 7pm - which the eagle-eyed amongst you will realise is the day before Valentine's Day... so why not spend Valentine's Day evening on a walk discovering the wonder of the stars in real life? Let's hope it's not raining!
Perhaps not the first thing that springs to mind for the majority of people wracking their brains for a romantic activity to celebrate Valentine's Day! But stick with us... the Great North Run solo challenge for February is set to get all hearts racing whether you're in love or running from it! Take on the 14-run challenge during February and get some much needed outdoor time with your partner or perhaps carve out some 'me' time with a run on your own. There is a medal in for everyone who has signed up and completed their 14 runs of any length and pace. Get your trainers on and get running!
Microwave your popcorn and settle in to stream a film from Whitley Bay's Jam Jar Cinema this Valentine's Day. The local and independent cinema have a range of films available for renting online. Choose from La La Land if you need a little 'romantic realism', or why not head back in time with The Princess Bride if you're ready for fully fledged, classic fantasy romance. Streaming starts at £3.99 per film and this is a great way to spread some love while you support a local cultural business.

Yes... a winter walk. When things to do are limited, there is always the great outdoors to explore with your partner or long-missed friend. Stay local and soak up the beauty of NewcastleGateshead's parks, gardens, coastal scenes and iconic views as you chat, wander and fall in love with your surroundings all over again.
