We all need to take a minute sometimes to relax and recharge our social battery, especially after a jam-packed month, and these five picks will do exactly that.

Relax at The City Baths

Enjoy a peaceful walk in nature

Nothing will clear the mind quite like a good walk, the fresh air does absolute wonders for the mind and soul. We’re super lucky in NewcastleGateshead to have access to these stunning and picturesque spots with plenty of scenic routes to choose from. Some favourites include…

Saltwell Park - An award-winning park and one of Gateshead’s most beautiful green spaces. It’s perfect for a relaxed stroll or a few laps around the lake, with plenty of birds to spot along the way. Be sure to stop at Saltwell Towers in the centre of the park to grab a hot drink and some snacks Satlwell Park is also perfect if you’re bringing the dog along with you as there’s a dedicated, enclosed exercise area where they can safely run off the lead and have a good run around!

Exhibition Park - One of Newcastle’s prettiest city parks. Before your walk, grab a lovely takeaway coffee from Urban Green Café and enjoy Exhibition Park's mix of tree-lined paths, the lake and there's also some areas for families like the skatepark and children’s play area. It’s also home to Wylam Brewery at Palace of Arts, which hosts a range of popular festivals including the iconic food battles throughout the year.

Jesmond Dene - An excellent place for a fresh walk and it’s hugely popular with dog walkers and fitness enthusiasts too. It’s such a perfect spot to have some moments peace as you walk deeper into the Dene, as you’ll find little leafy nooks, tree lined routes alongside a stunning waterfall. Don’t forget to stop by Pets Corner on your route around to say hello to the animals too!

Head to the Mineral House Spa at Crowne Plaza

For the ultimate treat, head over to the Mineral House Spa inside Crowne Plaza Hotel. It’ll be a day that guarantees total relaxation, where’s better to chill-out than in a beautiful spa? Unwind in the luxurious, black-tiled swimming pool, steam away your stresses in the steam room, and treat yourself to a soothing massage or facial from expert therapists. Explore The Land of Oak and Iron

Land of Oak & Iron hosts a wide range of workshops and events at their heritage centre and beyond, including music performances, craft sessions, heritage talks, and more. It’s dog-friendly too, so your furry friend can come along. The site sits along a wooded valley with the River Derwent winding through it and is home to ancient woodlands, nature reserves, country parks, and wildlife such as red kites and kingfishers. All this is less than six miles from the centre of Newcastle. After a long walk, stop by the heritage centre café for a hot coffee and a sweet treat, and browse the shop for unique gifts made by local artists.
