This is Tomorrow Festival hosted over two days during the late May Bank Holiday at Exhibition Park is the place to be to kick off summer festival season with heart-thumping live music from headline stars. While Hit the North Festival sees music fans stroll through Newcastle from gig to gig and soak up some of the best music from a wide range of acts and genres. Gateshead Jazz Festival and Summertyne Americana Festival are two staples in Sage Gateshead’s event calendar and offer fans of jazz and country music respectively, a chance to experience the very best musicians perform live in Gateshead.
Further afield in Northumberland – the summer festival season continues with Corbridge Festival and Lindisfarne Festival giving music fans another excuse to soak up the sunshine and experience world-class live music in stunning surroundings.
Family-friendly festivals such as Maps Festival, which typically takes place at cultural venues across Newcastle and Gateshead in February half term, is the little dash of colour, sparkle and creativity that will leave the whole family smiling.
Newcastle Mela takes place every August bank holiday and is a free, family-friendly festival celebrating Asian culture in Newcastle's Exhibition Park. The popular multi-cultural festival includes live music, dancing, entertainment and plenty of great food.
