In this talk Jenny Uglow looks at the art of Thomas Bewick and Edward Lear, and shows how Bewicks often comical vignettes, and Lears nonsense rhymes, conjure a wealth of human follies in miniature.

Jenny Uglow's award winning books include biographies of Hogarth, Bewick and Lear, as well as group biographies such as The Lunar Men . Her latest book is A Year with Gilbert White: The first great nature writer .
