Gateshead Leisure Centre

Gateshead Council has confirmed that it has no immediate plans to reopen its leisure centres, gyms and swimming pools. In Gateshead, our primary concern remains the health and wellbeing of our residents during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. With that in mind, all GO Gateshead leisure centres have been closed since March 2020 to help control the further spread of the virus and this will continue to be the case for the time being.

Any changes to this stance, including a date for reopening will be communicated directly to GO Gateshead members and residents through broader Gateshead Council communications channels, including social media. All Direct Debit payments will remain suspended until leisure centres reopen.

Gateshead Leisure Centre has a whole host of top-notch facilities including a main swimming pool and two small pools, state-of-the-art gym, squash court and two fitness studios. Work up a sweat in a variety of fitness classes including HIIT and boxercise, cyclecise and Pilates at Gateshead Leisure Centre before treating yourself to a well-earned bite to eat in their onsite Café.

The leisure facilities including gym, pool, sauna and steam room are all available seven days a week with flexible timings to allow visitors the chance to fit in their exercise around work, family and free-time. Visitors are advised to check the Gateshead Leisure Centre swimming pool timetable ahead of their visit. Children and adult swimming lessons can be booked at the leisure centre to help boost swimmer's confidence or instruct beginners in how to swim.

Visitors of all ages can take part in a range of sports activities from 5-a-side football to netball, gymnastics to activities tailored for the over 60s to help improve health and fitness.
