Shakespeare Double Bill
Join us for a night of Shakespeare with a double bill including:

Richard III
Shakespeare's 'Richard III' follows the rise and fall of the ruthlessly ambitious Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who manipulates and murders his way to the English throne. Motivated by his own self-loathing and a deep envy of his brother, King Edward IV, Richard is willing to do anything to reach the throne, including orchestrating the downfall of anybody who gets in his way, his close family included. Although initially a charming figure, Richard's unchecked power leads to uncontrollable tyranny, which reaches its climax at the Battle of Bosworth Field, in a fatal confrontation between Richard and Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond.

Measure for Measure
The Vienna of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure is teeming with loose morality. The Duke, Vincentio, is reluctant to enforce the law and instead leaves on a mysterious diplomatic journey, putting his deputy Angelo in charge. At first reluctant to take on the role, Angelo soon starts to make significant changes. He begins to lock up anyone who has transgressed, including Claudio whose girlfriend is pregnant. Claudio now faces the full force of the law: execution. But has the Duke really left? Who is the mysterious friar who has begun to interfere in affairs in Vienna? And can novice nun Isabella save her brother Claudio from the executioner’s axe?
