A new era of river cruising began on the River Tyne in August 2026 with the launch of Tyne Cruises aboard its refurbished passenger vessel, Canny Lass, offering locals and visitors a new way to experience Newcastle, Gateshead and the surrounding areas from the water.
Inspired by the Tyne’s rich maritime heritage and more than 20 years of river cruising, Tyne Cruises aims to reconnect people with one of the North East’s most iconic landmarks, showcasing its famous bridges, historic quayside, wildlife and riverside communities.
Departing from NE1 Newcastle City Marina, cruises include a 1-hour city cruise, 2-hour country cruise and 3-hour sea cruise, each offering a unique perspective of the river through engaging onboard commentary. Speciality and seasonal cruises, alongside private hire options, will also be available.
