    BALTIC: Open Submission

    The BALTIC Open Submission in association with Fenwick is an exhibition that presents over 100 artworks from North East based hobbyists and self-taught creatives, alongside several works by established artists drawn from over 1400 submissions. From captivating paintings to mesmerizing sculptures, this exhibition shines a light on the creatives we have in the North East. The Open Submission can be found on the ground floor and is on until September. Find out more here. 

    Urban Park Market

    Get your market fix this spring at the Urban Park Market. Taking place in various locations across NewcastleGateshead, the market has a focus on independent traders.     The Late Shows

    Newcastle and Gateshead's late night culture crawl returns this May. The free after-hours culture crawl is  facilitated by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and sponsored by Creative Central NCL. The unmissable event will feature over 60 Newcastle and Gateshead music and performance venues, art studios, galleries and museums hosting fun and intriguing events. This year, there will be five new artist commissions. The five brand new artists commissions will be hosted at The Common Room, Dance City, Grainger Market and Blackfriars. Each commission is inspired by the location, be that the environment, its heritage or its archives and collections.     Newcastle Food Festival

    New for 2024, The Newcastle Food Festival is a family friendly celebration of international influence and local talent, expressed through international food, independent drink, live music, arts and charity. The festival will be taking place in Exhibition Park on the 4th and 5th May. The event offers a diverse range of experiences, from exploring international street food vendors to enjoying refreshing drinks at independent bars. Live chef demonstrations will be showcasing culinary expertise, while artisan markets will offer gourmet treats for visitors to enjoy. Attendees can dance the day away to live music ranging from jazz to indie, and enjoy live entertainment. Find out more.

    Space Investigators at Great North Museum Hancock

    Investigate the evolution of telescopes, examine historical instruments and other ground-breaking discoveries, and get hands-on with interactive activities at the Great North Museum: Hancock. From challenging ancient beliefs to the design of future giant telescopes, delve into the science of cutting-edge cosmic exploration originating in the region, all brought to life. This exhibition has been designed and curated in collaboration with a team of Astrophysicists at Newcastle University and is the perfect day out for any budding space explorer!     Blackfriars Cloister Garden

    Enjoy a sharing plank of seasonal starters, followed by a main course straight from the BBQ rounded off with a seasonal dessert at Blackfriars historic cloister garden.
