Takeaway food blog

Updated from 1 June 2020 - please check directly with the restaurants' websites and social media to find out if they still provide takeaways.

You might be searching for where to get a takeaway Sunday Lunch or recreate a lazy weekend brunch in your own home. As lockdown guidelines are reintroduced, we’re grateful for the innovative minds behind the independent cafes and restaurants across Newcastle and Gateshead who are continuing to serve takeaways and collection. The simple pleasure of a delivery of great food at this uncertain time is enough to get us all salivating – and what a rewarding way to support local business?!

Make sure you plan ahead as there is going to be high demand and some limitations, for example the delivery distance for takeaways. Many of the restaurants offering meals for collection or foraying into the world of takeaway food, are small businesses with small teams. We applaud their creativity as they fire up their kitchens so that the people of Newcastle and Gateshead can tuck into a juicy burger, Indian curry, vegan takeaways or afternoon tea at home.

Here’s a reminder of government guidelines and practical information about coronavirus and make sure you maintain 2 metres apart and look after yourselves and those who are serving us. Staying safe and protecting lives is always a priority.

If you'd rather stay at home or you're self-isolating but still want to support local businesses and enjoy a tasty NewcastleGateshead takeaway - check out Grab North East who have a great selection of local takeaway options that you can order online and have delivered to your door. North East taxi firm Blueline Taxis are behind the door-to-door takeaway delivery service.
