Where should I go on a first date in Newcastle Gateshead header

Dating can be a daunting task. With multiple dating apps to swipe on and set-ups to navigate, the dating scene can be a nightmare, never mind planning the actual date.

Lucky for you – NewcastleGateshead is not short of ideal places to have a first date, and we have compiled them into a handy list just for you!

NQ64 Arcade Bar

What better way to break the ice than at NQ64 Arcade Bar. The bar combines nightlife vibes with retro games and quirky cocktails.  Challenge your date to a game of Guitar Hero, show off your pinball skills or even revel in nostalgia with a game of Pac Man. The neon splattered drinking den has an enviable game-themed cocktail and craft beer menu that can be enjoyed whilst challenging your date. NQ64’s retro arcades and pinball machines operate on tokens which can be bought from the bar, while their games consoles are all free to play.

If you want to take your date out to one of Newcastle's most quirky bars, go no further than No28. No28 bar is an award-winning late-night institution and a real hidden gem. Sample the extensive cocktail menu as you get to know your date, and if things are going well, why not try some of their tapas. The gorgeous interiors and similarly gorgeous drinks are enough to impress anyone!

Junkyard Golf

From a creepy dystopian playground to jungle themed madness, Junkyard Golf Club is certainly a place to make an impression on your first date. The crazy golf course consists of three 9-hole courses and serves wacky cocktails, any first date nerves will disappear in no time.

Ouseburn is the perfect spot to take a first date if you are wanting to show off one of the quaintest neighbourhoods in Newcastle. Walk from the Quayside along The Ouseburn and stop off at Kiln for a bite to eat. The spot is well loved by locals, the hustle and bustle making a perfect soundtrack to a first date. The selection of coffees, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages will keep you occupied, and don;t forget to take a peek into the pottery studio.

BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art

With a history that stretches back much further than its 2002 opening, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art is the biggest gallery of its kind in the world. Spend the day enjoying the contemporary visual art, and
with an ever-changing calendar of exhibitions and activities designed to give a unique and compelling insight into contemporary artistic practice, there is always something different to be discovered. Be sure to take your date up to the viewing platform to get one of the best views of Newcastle and Gateshead, and if it is going well, pop into SIX and have a drink or two whilst you overlook the River Tyne.

Tyneside Cinema

If your date loves the cinema, impress in the surroundings of Tyneside's historic Art Deco space. Watch either a cult classic or a new release in the magnificent surroundings. The cinema may not be the most talkative of dates, so why not head to Vicolo afterwards to talk over the film and get to know your date a bit better.
