The Vermont Hotel invites you to a vow renewal with a twist, the happy couple is celebrating their 30-year wedding anniversary except it is not so happy when the groom turns up dead. It will be up to you to find out who did it. Was it his spoilt children or his desperate business partner? Help Isabelle Mumford crack the case. Tickets are £35 and include a 3-course meal and a glass of Buck’s Fizz on arrival.

Anti-Valentine’s Day at The Stand

If you want to take your date out on Valentine’s Day but without the pressure, The Stand have an Anti-Valentine’s Day comedy night on Monday 14 February at 8.30pm. Come and have a laugh at The Stand with Sammy Dobson, Si Beckwith, Lauren Stone and Lauren Pattison.

Learn to Tango at Dance City

This class is taught with partners in mind. Suited to all ages at any level, shake off those first date nerves at Dance City’s Tango Class. Tango is a tale of politics and passion, immigration, and romance. It was the cornerstone of Argentine. The class is on every Monday at 5.30pm, so bring your date on Valentine’s Day and dance the night away.


If you and your date love interactive darts, dancing or live sport then the WonderBar is the venue to be at in Newcastle. Stomp the night away at the bierkeller and enjoy a bite to eat. They also offer a variety of entertainment through the week, including live music, bingo, and comedy nights. You can find WonderBar in The Gate, they are open Monday-Sunday from 10am. There are some brilliant alternative nights out in Newcastle which will give you plenty of suggestions for top first date options.

Take a selfie with the Angel of the North

Make your first date a memorable one and visit the Angel of the North. Created by Antony Gormley, the Angel is made from 200 tonnes of steel, has a wingspan of 54 metres and a red-brown colour that comes from the weathering steel which can withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour. You may have seen the sculpture from afar, so why not see it up close in all its glory and take a first date selfie?

Junkyard Golf Club

From a creepy dystopian playground to jungle themed madness, Junkyard Golf Club is one of the craziest golf attractions in Newcastle. If your first date is not going to plan, do not worry - the yard consists of three 9-hole courses, so if the small talk is very small - there is plenty to talk about such as the Rihanna bathtub and UV garage rave room.

Guided Tour of The Tyne Theatre & Opera House

The Tyne Theatre have lifted the curtains and allowed you to see behind the scenes of the Grade I listed building. Built in 1867, the theatre is beautiful with its lavish decoration and outstanding acoustics. In the 1-hour tour, you will explore all areas of the theatre - including the understage mechanics and a secret trap door. Your tour guide will tell you all the tales of the Tyne Theatre & Opera House. The tour tickets cost £6.

Beamish Museum

A date that you won't forget in a hurry, Beamish Museum is an award-winning attraction near Gateshead that brings to life North East heritage.
