Daniel Blake is a 59-year-old carpenter in Newcastle who, after suffering a heart attack, finds himself unable to work. Yet despite medical advice, he is denied Employment and Support Allowance and must navigate the dehumanising world of the welfare system.
Along the way he meets Katie, a single mother who has been relocated from London to Newcastle, and together they form an unlikely but powerful bond of friendship and solidarity.
