Three people laughing together
North East Museums (formerly Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums) is a regional museum, art gallery and archives service. We manage 12 museums and galleries across the North East, and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

Representatives from community organisations are invited to our Community Forum at Great North Museum: Hancock on Wednesday 6 May, 2.30-4.30pm.

Registration and refreshments will be available from 2.15pm and we aim to start at 2.30pm.

At the May 2026 North East Museums Community Forum we will have:

* Representatives from all venues with the opportunity to chat and ask questions
* The launch of the North East Museums Community partner package
* Presentations about three partnership case studies
* An update about the community bursaries with invite to sign up for sub-groups to develop pilot project ideas with bursary funding.

As a reminder, the focus of the North East Museums Community Forum is for community partners to help us consider the question: What could North East Museums do with your organisation to support your work with people in Tyneside and Northumberland?
Our ambitions for the North East Museums Community Forum:

* To connect and support the development of community engagement across our museums and galleries
* To increase and develop our focus on working with community partners and networks, whilst supporting audience development plans and programming
* To grow the impact of our community work
* To develop strategic partnerships that benefit the communities of Tyneside and that will guide and influence North East Museums' mission and commitments.

The mission ofNorth East Museums [https://www.northeastmuseums.org.uk/] is to welcome and connect people to the past, present and future of the North East through stories, shared spaces and experiences.

We help people understand and act on five local and global challenges:

* Equality we provide a warm welcome to everyone, break down barriers caused by inequality and discrimination and share diverse stories.
* Wellbeing we wuse our spaces and services to support peoples physical and mental health.
* Social mobility we deliver learning experiences, volunteering opportunities and pathways for personal development for people of all ages and backgrounds.
* Climate we raise awareness about the environment and encourage people to act for a sustainable future.
* Place we celebrate North East England, inspire local pride and use our resources to support research, innovation and economic regeneration.
