Maundy Thursday Chrism Eucharist Cathedral Service - Diocesan RSVPs - Newcastle Cathedral

To: Hon Assistant Bishops, all Clergy (including PTO), Readers (including PTO), Authorised Lay Ministers, Missioners, Deanery Lay Chairs, Ordinands, Churchwardens, Members of Bishops Council

The Chrism Eucharist is a significant event in the liturgical year, when we come together to renew our shared commitment as disciples of Christ, and as ministers to his people. Our communities and our world continue to face many challenges, and the Chrism Eucharist reminds us that we are not alone in our ministry, and that we do not minister in our own strength, but in the strength and hope of Christ, who has called us to follow and to serve.

All are invited, and welcome, to join with us. It is my expectation that all Clergy and Readers who hold my licence will attend the Chrism Eucharist in person (the service will not be livestreamed).If licensed Clergy and Readers are unable to attend, please can you write for my permission to be absent to R.O'Hagan@newcastle.anglican.org. I do very much appreciate that chaplaincy license-holders may not be able to attend due to commitments in their place of work.

The Maundy Thursday Chrism Eucharist will include the blessing of oils. Please note oils will be available pre-charged in small containers so there is no need to bring your own stocks.Please bring the empty containers from last years service.

A light buffet lunch will be provided after the service. I appreciate that some may wish to head into the city centre for lunch but please do consider staying in the Cathedral with colleagues.

Clergy and Readers (including those who are retired and hold my Permission to Officiate) are encouraged to robe for the service Clergy: surplice/cotta, or alb if this is your preference, and white stole.
