Ad Gefrin celebrates the Golden Age of Northumbria and offers visitors a timeless welcome.
In the recreated Great Hall, the stories of the kings and queens of Northumbria and their courtiers from the 7th century summer palace discovered only four miles away, are vividly brought to life. Displayed alongside are a number of archaeologically important artefacts both found at the original site, and on loan from leading international museums and collections. Ad Gefrin is also home to Northumberland’s First Single Malt Whisky crafted from the finest malting barley grown by local farming partners and the purest Cheviot water pumped up from a bore hole below the distillery, with tours following the whole process from grain to cask – and a tasting.
Access to the main areas of Ad Gefrin is free, including a bistro celebrating fresh local produce and a retail shop where you can find anything from richly coloured throws to handcrafted furniture made from whisky barrels. Tickets are available for the Great Hall & Museum Experience and Tours of the Distillery including a visit to the unique tasting room. Book online to avoid disappointment.
