Newcastle is about to become the epicentre of football celebrations on March 29th, as the city hosts the Carabao Cup Winners event. The region, fans, and Newcastle United Football Club are still flying high after taking the win at Wembley - Newcastle’s first major domestic trophy in 70 years - and the celebrations are set to continue.
Whether you're a local or planning to make the trip to the North East from further afield, here is everything you need to know about an event that will go down in Newcastle’s football history.
It has been confirmed that an open-top bus parade will take place ahead of a large-scale event on the Town Moor on Saturday, March 29th. This will be open to the general public.
The bus will leave St James’ Park at around 4:00–4:30pm, making its way down Gallowgate, turning onto Percy Street before heading onto the B1318 towards Gosforth. The bus will stop at the Town Moor where players will make their way to the stage.The celebration is set on Town Moor, adjacent to Great North Road, where a free open-air event will bring fans together.
The event will feature a live screening of the Carabao Cup Final (from 2:00pm), main stage entertainment from 4:00pm, a Q&A session with club legends at 5:00pm, player appearances at 6:35pm, and will be capped off by Sela’s Spectacular Show at 7:00pm.
The festivities will wrap up by 7:30pm.
This free-to-attend, open-air event will bring fans together in celebration of the men’s team lifting the Carabao Cup. The atmosphere will be electrifying, with special guest appearances from the likes of Eddie Howe, as well as DJs, live music, and screenings of the cup final.

Newcastle will be extremely busy on Saturday, March 29th, as fans gather for the Carabao Cup Winners Event. To help you get around safely and smoothly, here’s what you need to know:
With large crowds expected, using public transport is highly recommended. The nearest Metro stations to the Town Moor are West Jesmond and Monument, both approximately a 5–6 minute walk away. Additionally, several bus stops are in close proximity, including Claremont Road-University and Great North Road-Mooracres, serving routes such as 10, 11, 30, 31, 43, 49, 308, 309, 45, and X1. These frequent services provide convenient access to the event.
Additional Note: Expect significant disruptions—Metro and bus networks are anticipated to experience delays and diversions, so please check live updates via apps and social media before travelling.
To facilitate this major event safely, a series of road closures and parking suspensions have been put in place:
For the Town Moor Event:
Great North Road (from Blue House Roundabout to Claremont Road, including slip roads from CME North/Southbound to Barras Bridge) is closed from 12:00pm until 9:30pm.
Barras Bridge (between St Marys Place and Claremont Road) is closed from 4:00pm until 9:30pm.
Claremont Road (between Queen Victoria Road and Barras Bridge) is closed from 4:00pm until 9:30pm.
For the Parade (St James’ Park to Town Moor):
The parade will run from 16:00 to 18:00 with road closures along the route:
Barrack Road from Stanhope Street to St. James Boulevard
Gallowgate
St. James Boulevard from Westgate Road to Gallowgate
Percy Street
Blackett Street
New Bridge Street West (westbound from John Dobson Street to Pilgrim Street)
Barras Bridge
St. Mary’s Place (from John Dobson Street to Barras Bridge/Percy Street)
Note: The entire route will be closed from 4:00pm and will reopen in sections once the parade has passed safely.

Barrack Road: All bays suspended until 6:00pm
St Andrews Upper: All bays suspended until 6:00pm
College Street: All bays suspended until 6:00pm
Sandyford Road: All bays suspended until 6:00pm
Forsyth Road: All bays suspended all day
Eldon Square Car Park: Closed from 3:00pm until 6:00pm (no exits during this time)
Eldon Garden Car Park: Closed from 3:00pm until 6:00pm (exits available)
Clayton Street: All bays suspended until 6:00pm (between Fenkle Street and Newgate Street)
Civic Centre: Closed to the public until 1:00pm (Sandyford Square not included)
St James’ Park Stadium Car Park: Not available on March 29th
