Woodland Walk Celebration Heritage train ride with free museum entrance Pay once ride all day
Join us for a celebration event, to mark the opening of our new Woodland Walk area, at Stephenson Steam Railway.

Be entertained by a fantastic puppet show from the brilliant Mosstroopers and keep an eye out for Marley the Pit Pony as he strolls around an area of the Woodland Walk. There'll also be larger-than-life walking butterflies on stilts, fluttering their way through our Woodland Walk area and heritage trains will be running throughout the day, too.

Re-live the glorious days of the steam railway at Stephenson Steam Railway in North Shields. George and Robert Stephenson spent 20 years in North Tyneside developing their pioneering ideas which helped spread railways and locomotives around the world. Today our museum celebrates their achievement. A range of fascinating locomotives are on display including George Stephenson's 'Billy', a forerunner of the world-famous Rocket. Animated film and displays explore how trains work and the impact on peoples lives of coal and electricity, crucial in the development of railway power.
