Poems have long been used to mark treasured life rituals; such as the changing of seasons. In Japanese culture, the famed haiku began; which can be used to honour the summer.
In this workshop Leila will guide you to create a Haiku Poem to celebrate the sunshine.
About the artist:
Leila Sarah Hussein is an internationally published writer and poet, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Her work’s primary focus is empowerment. Leila’s writing has been featured on northern radio, commissioned by an MP in the house of commons and a book deal was offered by Lapwing books; early into her career. Her spoken word has been performed regularly at places like The Cluny and she has facillitated creatively with New Writing North, a leading north east literary agency. With a diverse cultural and professional background, Leila’s interest now lies in facilitating these skills within others, to enhance grass roots creative expression.
