Where is the race?
The race unfolds along the stunning stretch of the River Tyne, nestled between the iconic Tyne Bridge and Millennium Bridge. The starting point is the Newcastle City Marina, in front of the Law Courts.

What is a Dragon Boat?
A dragon boat is a long, narrow watercraft with a rich history and cultural significance. In the context of our event, it's not just a boat; it's a symbol of unity and determination. These dragon-themed boats are the vessels of choice for our teams, as they race down the River Tyne in a spirited competition to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Can Spectators watch for free?
You don't need a ticket to enjoy the action from the shore. We invite you to attend and bring along friends and family. In addition to the boat race, there will be plenty of on-land entertainment and activities throughout the event.

What size are the boat teams?
Each boat can accommodate between 11 and 16 rowers, along with a crucial drummer who sets the rhythm that unifies the team's strokes.

Can Solo Participants and Small Groups join in?
Whether you're a solo fundraiser or part of a small group, you can join the excitement for £45 per head. We'll ensure that teams are expertly crafted to balance the mix of participants.

Can we book Multiple Boats?
Feel the thrill of healthy competition among colleagues by booking more than one boat. There's no limit to how many boats you can reserve, and you can even turn it into a friendly challenge to see who can raise the most for charity.

What is the Teenage Cancer Trust?
Supporting a noble cause is at the heart of Newcastle's Dragon Boat Race. This year, we proudly contribute to the Teenage Cancer Trust. This remarkable charity offers specialized care and support designed for and with young people facing cancer. Their mission is to ensure that cancer doesn't rob young people of their identity, independence, and dreams. Funds raised support specialist nurses, youth support teams, and hospital units within the NHS, providing the best care and support during treatment and beyond.
