National Stottie Week 2026

Celebrate the North East’s most iconic bread during National Stottie Week 2026, running from Monday 10th - Sunday 16th August.

Hosted by Scotty the Stottie, this week-long celebration of the humble stottie features a mix of in-person and online events, giveaways, and exciting collaborations across Newcastle and beyond.

The Great Digital Stottie Trail

New for this year, The Great Digital Stottie Trail is a free family adventure taking you to some of Newcastle and Gateshead's best-loved cultural, historic and community venues, with a bonus stop at Si King's PROPA at Sheepfolds in Sunderland.

Follow Scotty and Dotty the Stotties as they search for 20 mischievous Mini Stotties hidden across the region. To access the trail, simply scan the QR code at participating locations to download the app, then set off to find the lost Mini Stotties, unlock fun digital photo opportunities and snap a selfie with Scotty and Dotty at selected stops.

What’s on?

• MONDAY 10 AUGUST - STOTTIE WEEK LAUNCH AT BIG RIVER BAKERY - Join the Stottie Week Launch at Big River Bakery, with competitions and giveaways promoted through their social media.
• TUESDAY 11 AUGUST - STORYTELLING AT FENWICK AND HOPSCOTCH CAFE - Join in for a storytelling session at Fenwick in the Hopscotch Cafe.
• WEDNESDAY 12 AUGUST - GLOBAL FREE LIVE-STREAM STOTTIE BAKE - Tune in from anywhere in the world to bake together live and celebrate the humble stottie.
• THURSDAY 13 AUGUST - STORY TIME AT HOME GROUP STRAWBERRY PLACE - Head to Home Group Strawberry Place for more stottie stories, smiles and community connection.
• FRIDAY 14 AUGUST - STOTTIE PICNIC AND FUN - Travel on the Stottie Express bus, courtesy of Go North East, from Shieldfield to BALTIC for a picnic, story and activities. Limited places. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-booking only via gail@bigriverbakery.com.
• SATURDAY 15 AUGUST - STOTTIE HOYING AT BIG RIVER BAKERY - Stottie Hoying - Traditional Stottie Game throwing mini stotties through targets in a board. Come and join in the fun and win a coconut.
• SUNDAY 16 AUGUST - SCOTTY’S DAY OF REST & PHOTO COMPETITION WINNERS - Scotty deserves a well-earned rest after a long week. The winners of the Stottie Trail photo competition will also be announced.
