Katie Doherty The Navigators
Originally from Teesside, Katie Doherty is an award winning singer-songwriter. She formed the Navigators in 2018. Their power and dynamic is often described as much bigger than its component parts. Katies songs hang on the precipice of the current state of the world. The songs paint sweeping pictures and intricate portraits and exquisite story telling is at the heart of all of Katies work. Her work is rooted in a craggy North East landscape where Katie resides on a hill in the North Pennines.

The music exudes heart, warmth and melody which leaves you feeling uplifted and welcomed. Their latest album Flow produced by Mattie Foulds (Karine Polwart, Rachel Newton, Adam Holmes and The Embers) was released in Summer 2022 and promptly entered the official UK Folk Chart in the Top 30.Their 2019 album And Then led them to live sessions on BBC Radio 2s Mark Radcliffe Show and BBC Radio 3 In Tune. They have toured nationally taking in Sage Gateshead, Cambridge Folk Festival, Manchester, Warwick and Ely Folk Festivals to name a few.

With Katie on piano and vocals, the Navigators signature sound is built upon the talents of world class Folk musicians Dave Gray on melodeon (Vrldens Band, Cri Du Canard) and Grace Smith on Fiddle (Grace Smith Trio, Cri Du Canard). When not out and about performing her songs, Katie writes music for all kinds of theatre. You may have heard her songs in the North East in productions from Northern Stage, November Club, Cap-a-Pie, Open Clasp and Tin Arts to name a few. Katie is passionate about the value of music for our future generations.
