In Conversation with Sairish Hussain
As part of Moving: Stories of Identity, Migration & Hope.

Sairish will explore the themes of identity, family, and resilience in her multigenerational story which deftly weaves in the tragic events of the Partition of India and the Grenfell Tower fire. The story paints a poignant narrative between Yusuf, haunted by a nightmarish past, and his granddaughter, Rubi, who confronts the cultural clash of their lives when she has to stay with him in Bradford. As Rubi uncovers deeply buried secrets, they both grapple with painful memories that challenge their perceptions, forming an unbreakable bond between them both. From the acclaimed author shortlisted for the Costa Prize, Hidden Fires is a poignant and gripping story that shines a light on voices often unheard and experiences often overlooked.

There will be a reading, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.

This event is part of Northern Bookshelf Live and was made possible with support from New Writing North.
