Discover Newcastle’s layered history on a walking tour with the Northumberland and Newcastle Society. Trace the city’s evolution through centuries of ambition, architecture, and transformation - from Roman origins to industrial innovation. Explore landmarks like Central Station, the Castle Keep, Grey Street, and the historic Quayside, with interior visits to Bessie Surtees House and the Lit & Phil Library.

*This is a one off event held in collaboration with the Northumberland and Newcastle Society showcasing the city's rich architectural heritage.*

SAVE Britain’s Heritage is a national charity that campaigns to bring new life to threatened historic buildings of all types and ages. As part of this, our national events programme helps raise awareness of the potential for reusing historic buildings at the heart of our communities. These events – often organised in collaboration with local groups and others – highlight the significant sustainability benefits of upgrading and adapting existing buildings, rather than allowing their demolition and loss. Through events held across the UK, we help promote the value and future potential of the built heritage.
