Danish jazz singerSara Oschlag, has made a name for herself as a leader and featured guest in bands throughout the UK and Europe. An intelligent interpreter of songs in the jazz tradition, she has been hailed as a musicians singer due to her wonderful way of using dynamics, texture and rhythm. Her honest stage presence, expressive voice and effortless sense of swing have made her a firm favourite with musicians and the jazz audience.

Arnie Somogyi is one of the UKs most in-demand bass players and has played on over 60 albums, including five as a leader. He has recorded, performed and toured with many of the worlds leading jazz musicians, The Mingus Big Band and many international stars such as Tom Jones, Charlie Watts, Amy Winehouse, Richard Ashcroft and Omar. He has appeared frequently at world-renowned jazz club Ronnie Scotts, both as a sideman, leader and member of The Ronnie Scotts All-Stars. His music has featured on radio, television and in the feature film The Talented Mr Ripley.

Since moving to the North East,Joe Steels continues to establish himself as an exciting guitarist on the jazz scene. He plays with a deep consideration of the tradition, mixed with innovation and a strong melodic sense. He draws inspiration from his love of the people and places around him. Joe has performed across the UKvincluding the Love Supreme, Newcastle Jazz Festival, and many other venues- Including our own! Joe released his second album A Blue Patch in February and the title track was featured on Radio 3s Round Midnight show.

The Ship Isis is one of the better bars in Sunderland, with a fantastic selection of food and drinks and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Home to The Vaux Room, an intimate live music space with a vintage vibe. Seating with tables is unallocated, first come, and limited to 40. On the door ticketing is not guaranteed, so book early.
The venue is situated on the edge of the city centre and is within a 15-minute walk from both bus and train stations, with free off-peak car parking directly behind the venue. The Vaux Suite is upstairs, with no alternative acess or those unable to attempt the stairs.
The Old Black Cat Jazz Club meet regularly in Sunderland for relaxed performances in beautiful surroundings. All are welcome.
Doors from 7pm, the show starts 7:30pm sharp.
