As part of the NS800 celebrations last year, local artist Conrad Milne will present a talk about his remarkable project, North Shields: 800 Years in the Making.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view the recently installed seven large-scale aluminium panels that bring together eight centuries of the towns history through layered images, maps, words and poetry.

Conrad will explain how the Pow Burn became the central thread of the artwork, reflecting its importance in the towns early development.

He will discuss the extensive research behind the project and reveal how historical photographs, contemporary imagery, local folklore and cultural references have been woven together to create a rich visual narrative.

The talk will offer fascinating insights into North Shields heritage and the creative process behind this unique tribute to the towns past, present and future.
