Can you get a more calming and magical combination than mindfulness and nature. Come and join us on the picturesque Herrington Country Park and get that aaahhhh feeling.

Details and practicalities of the walk are below.

Where shall we meet?
We will meet near the car park near to the Love Lily Caf and the toilets just before 10am
Is there a car park?
There is plenty of parking on site, including accessible/Blue Badge parking bays.
Who is leading the mindful walk?
The walk is being led by The Little Company of Calm which is a Sunderland based mindfulness company www.tlcoc.co.uk registered with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches. This walk is being led by Liz McEvoy (Mindfulness Teacher at the Company).

Do I need to have practised mindfulness before?
Absolutely not. This walk is perfect for beginners and those already practising mindfulness. Its all about well-being in nature and just giving it a go.
What is mindfulness?
The best way to find out is to come along and experience it but in a nutshell, it is about becoming more aware of the present so we are not worrying so much about the past or the future. The NHS and many organisations and individuals use it as a tool to improve mental health and well-being.
Is there a charge for the walks?
The walk costs 5 but donations would be accepted for anyone who was unable to pay this amount. We do not want affordability to be a barrier to accessing mindfulness so come, enjoy and pay what you can.
How do I pay?
You pay when booking via our web site. www.tlcoc.co.uk/book. If you have any problems with this, just contact us. You can pay by bank transfer Tranquillity through Mindfulness Community Interest Company Nat West Business Account 55-61-11 75267276 or bring cash on the day.

Accessibility
As the mindfulness walks are to explore how nature helps our well-being we may walk on uneven grassy surfaces or between trees. There will be an option to stay on the paths.
Please contact us if you want further information on the exact route of the walk and accessibility.
Is there an age limit for the walk?
There is no upper age limit but the walk and project are aimed at people aged 18 years and up.
What shall I wear?
The choice is yours, of course, but it is recommended that you wear suitable footwear for walking on uneven ground. Clothes should be appropriate for the whatever the weather and walking in areas where there is sand.
What else should I bring?
You may wish to bring water to drink and (being optimistic) a hat and sunscreen if the sun is out.
Are there toilets?
There are toilets, including accessible toilets within the park, at the start of the walk but not on the walk itself.
The Walk
What will the walk involve?
Apart from walking among the natural winter beauty of Herrington Country Park, it will include short meditations at points along the walk, using the senses to come into the present, mini forest bathing and very gentle and short mindful movement (like tai chi).

How long is the walk?
The whole walk will take around an hour and quarter/half to complete.

Do I have to be silent?
Not at all as walking is also about socialising. All we ask is that you are quiet during the short meditations.
Is there anything else I need to know about the actual walk?
There is some uneven ground at the park it can be muddy or hold water after rain. We will be walking along Tarmac but also and grassy tracks that may have uneven or muddy surfaces, which can be slippy. There are inclines to some of the areas and declines from hillocks.
Is there anywhere I can sit down?
There are benches in the park and on route where you will be able to sit down.
Can I bring my dog?
As there are many dogs already in the park, we would ask you, on this occasion, not to bring your furry friends to minimise disruption to the practices. We really appreciate your understanding in this.
