Build a Bug House - Washington Wetland Centre

Stag grazing on grass
A colourful, hands-on crafting session where families turn recycled milk cartons into cosy bug houses.

Get ready for a wonderfully creative experience at this year’s Dragonfly Festival. In this relaxed, family-friendly session, you’ll join volunteer Kate in the Insect Garden to build your very own bug house using recycled milk cartons. It’s a brilliant way for families to enjoy nature activities together, learn about the insects that support our wetlands, & take home a handmade habitat to encourage wildlife in your own garden. This activity blends creativity, sustainability & hands-on fun, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy family events & wildlife experiences at Washington Wetland Centre.

Accessibility: The Insect Garden is wheelchair accessible with level pathways. Volunteers can offer support with materials, instructions & handling tools. The session is relaxed & drop-in, allowing visitors to participate at their own pace. See more information about our centres accessibility here.

This event is included in the price of admission, no booking required. Just come along & get crafty.
