Join us for a new talk exploring the heritage of Northumberland from a unique perspective. William George Footitt (1865-1936) was a skilled draughtsman who produced meticulous drawings of the region's architectural and archaeological treasures.

Recently discovered in a private collection, Footitt’s personal diary is a fascinating record of his life and work and his impressions of a rapidly changing world. Drawing upon this unique primary source and never-before-seen sketches and photographs, this richly illustrated talk will examine Footitt's first-hand impressions of the evolution of Newcastle and Northumberland from ancient times to the interwar era.
