Students from the Eve Trew School of Dance and Gateshead Children’s Arts and Theatre School (‘CATS’) return to the Theatre Royal for another charity showcase.
Established in 1957, the Eve Trew School of Dance was set up to teach ballet to a small group of students in Gateshead. Now in its sixth decade, Miss Trew has been joined by a small team of teachers and the school has branched out to other dance styles, including freestyle, street, tap, contemporary dance and drama.
You will be entertained by our dance students ranging in age from 3 to 80+ years and our CATS students will perform an energetic Mary Poppins medley.
The proceeds of the shows will be given to various local charities, including NECCR, all of which have touched the lives of families who have attended our schools
A well-known and much-loved figure in Gateshead, Miss Trew was awarded her MBE in 2010 for services to Dance and the Arts in the North-East. In 2020 she also received the Gateshead lifetime achievement award for outstanding services to the local community.
