Community. Entertainment. Believe in a fairer world.

May 4, 2026, will mark the 100th anniversary of the first full day of the 1926 General Strike – the biggest rupture in British society since the English Civil War. Millions of workers and their families withdrew their labour, challenging the British state and the existence of the Establishment. Locally, it led to the imprisonment of the infamous Cramlington Train Wreckers.

Centenary is a celebration of the historical nine-day 1926 General Strike – when workers believed a new, equal and better world was possible. It could have happened then – it still can.

Join Wisecrack Productions, the team behind smash-hit plays Hadaway Harry, Mr Corvan’s Music Hall, The Great Joe Wilson, Wor Bella and The Cramlington Train Wreckers at The Glasshouse, Gateshead for a show that includes songs, comedy sketches, satire, stand-up comedy and recitations. They put on two sold-out shows called Boris Out!, and look what happened to him.
