How can art and creativity help build communities?
For over 40 years, Helix Arts has been supporting communities and artists across the North East to work together to confront social issues and bring about meaningful change. This exhibition, co-curated with young people from Youth Focus North East, explores the legacy of the organisation’s work in Gateshead. It asks how shared culture and everyday creativity can continue to help us renew and strengthen our sense of community in a rapidly changing world.
Come along to this free exhibition - featuring unique artworks made by young people along with items from the Helix Arts archive - and help us celebrate the legacy and the future of community art.
The Gallery is open during normal library opening hours. Monday and Thursday, 9am-7pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm. Closed Bank Holiday weekends.
